WITAC Friends and Relatives
Some family history:
I started in 1993
JAGODA name started by Joseph S. Jagoda when he came to America from, we believe, Warsaw, Poland. His real last name was SZAREK. JAGODA means `berry` in Polish. He lived in St. Louis, Missouri, Ohio and Houston, Texas.
BRONCZYK is also spelled BRANCYK. Katazyna BRONCZYK changed her first name to Catherine and was the only sibling of 8 to come to America, from, we believe, Krakov, Poland. She married Josef on July 3, 1923 in St. Louis, Missouri. Two children, Wanda and Edwin, (my father), were born to Joe and Catherine.
PASZKIEWICZ are the longest in America. I still am not sure who was our immigrant ancestor in this line. They have always lived in the Nashville, Illinois area mainly as dirt farmers. They are also known as PASKIE. PASZKIEWICZ translates as `son of Paskie`.
BAUZA married PASZKIEWICZ and are form the same part of Illinois. They seem to have stayed mainly in the Nashville area.
GROSS are all from the Scheller, Illinois area. They too were mainly dirt farmers. Many of the young men worked from time to time in St. Louis at the American Car Foundry. All of the boys, except Alex, died in car accidents. Alex did not have children. This line has stopped. Many of the girls are still living and in their late 90`s. Gross, also spelled `Groz` and `Grosz` means `copper coin` in Polish and `big` in German.
WNUK married into GROSS. It is pronounced `Nook` by some and `Va-Nook` by others. Also from Illinois but many moved to St. Louis, Missouri. Family rumor tells us they came into America through Canada but this is not verified.
The direct last names for me in this history are: BRONCZYK, BAUZA, CIEPLUCH, GROSS, HAAS, JAGODA, PASZKIEWICZ, SCARA, SKIERA, SZAREK, WUNK and ZIARNEK.
But, I am happy and proud of the other names in these pages and hope to hear from all friends and relatives. If you find mistakes or have new information please let me know. I update when I have many new details to add or change so don`t worry if your information does not change immediately - I will do them. If you don`t have changes email me anyway.
